Organic Geochemical Investigation of Crude oils from the Al Bayda Platform Area (Samah formation), Central Part of the Sirte Basin, Northern Libya

In this paper, the geochemical studies of API gravity, content asphaltenes and gross compositions were performed on samples from two crude oils collected in Al Bayda Platform Area (Samah formation), central part Sirte Basin. The results showed that fraction saturates is dominant comparison to aromatics NSO components, with high gravity low which indicates are mature, generated marine organic sources they can be classified as light oils. aim study provide evidence about precursor material, depositional environment, maturity studied Saturated hydrocarbons analyzed by gas chromatography – mass spectrometry technique. Results oil originating matter phytoplankton algae, few terrestrial inputs, reflecting sourced siliciclastic, possibly shales deposited a clay-rich marine, under intermediate conditions maturity. All similar their characteristics, likely due migration pathways same region.
